HAZWOPER training scholarships available

The City of Ukiah Fire Department and the County of Mendocino Environmental Health Division have teamed up to offer a four-day Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification training. This course is designed for workers involved in clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and the treatment and disposal of hazardous substances. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certification. The training is based on OSHA standard 29, CFR Part 1910.120, and the cost to attend is $750.
Instructor Eric Peterson of Mill Creek Safety Instruction will lead the HAZWOPER course at the Ukiah Fire Department from Wednesday, December 6 to Saturday, December 9 from 8 am to 6 pm each day.
North Coast Opportunities, Inc. (NCO) and Mill Creek Safety Instruction are excited to announce the availability of scholarships for Lake and Mendocino County residents impacted by the Redwood Complex Fire to complete this course.
To apply for the scholarship, go to www.ncoinc.org or stop by NCO’s main office at 413 North State Street in Ukiah. The application is short and simple, and proof of income is required. Individuals with the greatest financial need will be given priority. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, November 29.
