North Coast Opportunities (NCO) has announced that it will participate as a “Safe Trick or Treat” site on Friday, October 31 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The annual event is put on by the Ukiah Main Street Program. Several hundred children aged 2-12 are expected to participate, and NCO – located at 413 S. State Street – is looking forward to opening its doors to them.
“At NCO, we believe in empowering people through community action,” says Executive Director Patty Bruder. “We also believe in having fun! Many of these children may have parents who are familiar with NCO or even participate in one of our programs, and we want the kids to know they’re important to NCO, too.”
In addition to decorating the courtyard, costumed staff will distribute pencils and fresh popcorn courtesy of Thompson Party Rentals, who will be donating the use of the popcorn maker. “One of NCO’s core missions is to increase access to fresh and healthy food, so offering popcorn as a special treat fits with our values,” says Executive Secretary Traci Boyl, who is spearheading NCO’s participation in the event.
Interested children and their parents may call 462-6789 or visit www.downtownukiah.com for more information about the program. For specific information about NCO’s participation, please contact Traci Boyl or “like” North Coast Opportunities on Facebook.
